Change in Direction

"The Crack of Dawn"

Change is in the air around our home.

It's spring "finally" and summer is fast on it's heels.

We are working daily at making the move to Detroit as smooth as possible for our son, and us. It's difficult moving from a small town to the big city. New rules, more distractions, and the chance to meet new people.

"Seductive Encounters".

With all the rush in my life, I felt the need to get back behind the camera. This is the one place where I love to be, and while I did not have any thing in mind, it was nice to walk into a shoot with a clean slate, and just see what developes

In keeping with a blog by Unbearable Lightness on the play on words. My model and I came up with the Crack of Dawn. This was nothing more then seeing a bottle of Dawn dish soap, and looking for a way to have fun with it. I had some better shots, but I just plain like this one.

My second image was a paid shoot, but this lovely model was such a pleasure to work with. I just had to post 1 of the more then 100 images we fell in love with.

In truth, I cannot wait to get moved to Detroit. there is so much I want to see, and do, but I also hope my family will be as happy as I am.

I look forward to making new friends, finding new models to work with, and stepping outside my box as often as possible on a daily basis.

Namaste.

Something new.

It's always fun to experiment with a new model. I had the honor of working with this young lady last week, and have just finished working on a couple edits.

Please feel free to share your suggestions. with her.

A tribute to Chris St. James.

To many who know me, your probably wondering about this blog. Tonight I sit at my parents in grief over a person I hardly know. I've been a new addition to the Blogging world, but some people have already made an Impression. Chris St. James http://onepixart.com/portfolio/art/gallery.php
is one of those larger then life individuals who has left a statement for all of us.
The dancer.
The dreamer.

His work, and his words I have viewed, and come to appreciate. The funny thing is I did not really know Chris. I have read on http://www.universdartistes.com, and have dropped by his blog from time to time looking for inspiration for some of my class projects. From unique perspectives, and illusions. to spiritual statements.

I hope one day to be half the artist you are, and to know friendships as strong as you have.

May your next journey be an inspiration.

Lady in Blue.

The Shadow Dancer

Sometimes when you do a shoot, you walk in with a plan, and your gung-ho to get rolling.

This shoot with Gwen was all about winging it.

We have been kicking around the thought of some art style nudes, and we both decided to just get together, and see what developes.

Moments to savor.

For the past several years, I have been working on getting a better education in the hopes of finding better employment to provide for my family. My original play was to enter the medical field. but then I took a photography class. While my results have been mixed. today I got my acceptance letter from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. I was also fortunate in receiving several letters of reference from Teachers, Models, and friends. because of this show of support I also received a second letter was an award letter based on my academic, and artistic ability for $28,000 scholarship payable in small increments while I'm a full time student in good standing. I have to say that my family has mixed blessing. There excited for me, but also have trepidation over relocating to a new city.

I do wish to take this moment to thank all of the photographers, and models who have worked with me, shared their time, and talent, and formed a friendship with.

The Artist.

well for many of you who drop by, and read some of my wandering thoughts. One individual mentioned that I was just a poser, and a hack.

their probably right, but there is something liberating about just looking at life with fresh eyes.
as I prepare for my transfer to the College for Creative Studies. I had an interview with a rep. from Kendall College in GR.

During the interview I was complimented on my technical skills, but found lacking in any artistic ability. The main thought I get in return is I have to find my Artistic voice.

I have to be honest, I do not feel like I have the right to a voice yet. at the moment I'm trying to learn thousands of years of artistic history in just a bit more then 1 year, and all the different mediums, and formats, and themes to express one's artistic voice. I love photography, but I also enjoyed learning to draw, and paint. while I'm honest enough to admit my skills are questionable at best.
The weird part of this journey is how I enjoy working with both the technical, and the artistic.
I enjoy trying to learn all the different lighting techniques I find on Modelmayhem.com. Modelbrigade.com, and other sites that work with the modeling industry. I also find it interesting to meet all the different individuals, and to learn a bit about their story, as we work together.

Shadows.

This shoot was one of my more interesting ones. One of the photographers was fustrated, because she was not able to get a shadow on her images like some pictures she seen on the internet. She was saying it was impossible with out photoshop.

I had to laugh, because my photography instructor said it was doable, and even one of his other students could do it easily, and with out help. "I knew he was setting me up" but I just was not sure what he was planning.

well the 2 made a bet, and not 30 sec later I hear "Scott I have a challenge for you". I just busted out laughing. After looking at the image. I noticed it was an Image by AJ Kahn from about 18 months ago, and I just happen to contact him for advice on how to create that lighting effect. his work is so amazing, I cannot help but ask HOW did you do that.

So, instead of telling you about the experience I have decided to post a few, and let you decide

while I did not use the same lighting set up as AJ, I did manage to create the effect. The GWC "girl with a camera" was happy.

Images are not edited in any way, shape or form. I'm curious to
